Comments from Dr. Navid Senehi
Alyssa initially came to see me for Botox treatments concerning her forehead since she was beginning to notice more wrinkles when she raised her brow or frowned.
One of the initial things I do with all my patients before we perform any facial rejuvenation procedures is to go through a Facial Analysis consultation. During that consultation, we discuss different components of the face such as what makes a face attractive as well as the importance of facial symmetry.
During our visit, I observed a subtle asymmetry on her brow which was caused by "drooping" or what we call ptosis of the right brow. After I mentioned this to Alyssa, she informed me she had a traumatic injury to her forehead in the past which caused this asymmetry. This caused nerve injury which resulted in a disruption of the normal correct functioning of the nerve and muscle to raise the brow, which caused the drooping.
Botox Treatment
We discussed several options for the correction to the asymmetry, with Botox being one of those options. We decided the best option was to proceed with Botox treatments, not only to get rid of the wrinkles on her forehead but also to correct the asymmetry of her eyebrow.
This procedure is very unpredictable due to the extent of the anatomical variation in the area and the overlap of the musculature. It requires an expert in the field to be able to determine the position of the muscles and analyze the movement of the brow and determine where the Botox needs to injected to achieve the right cosmetic results, which is what we were able to do for Alyssa.
She is incredibly happy with the outcome, and that makes me very pleased.
